A tissue packaging artwork checklist helps the buyer and manufacturer review the product specification, pack structure and design files together. A finished-looking PDF is not enough if it uses an old count, the wrong barcode or an outdated dieline.
For a range of products, keep a copy sheet for each SKU. Separate information that changes between variants from fixed brand elements, then check the unit pack and master carton against that record.
Tissue packaging artwork checklist
| File | What it should establish |
|---|---|
| Copy sheet | SKU, product name, count, languages, claims and market copy linked to the approved specification. |
| Dieline | Current revision, dimensions and units, panel orientation, seals, folds, openings and non-print areas. |
| Working file | Editable artwork on the correct dieline, with the required logos, images, fonts and colour references supplied. |
| Review PDF | A clearly named preview that matches the working-file revision. Identify its intended review scope. |
| Barcode data | The buyer’s identifiers mapped to the correct SKUs and packaging levels, with placement and verification requirements identified. |
| Carton file | Product identity, packs per carton, markings, identifiers and the agreed logistics information. |
| Approval | Controlling filenames, revision, approvers, date, proof or sample reviewed and any unresolved items. |
Look beyond the flat artwork
On a soft pack, check the seal and fold direction. On a carton, check the assembled panel order. Important text, logos or barcodes should be reviewed in relation to openings, folds and the actual pack orientation.
A mock-up helps assess placement and handling, but it does not demonstrate every aspect of the final print. Record which proof or sample was reviewed and what it was used to approve.
Confirm responsibilities before release
The buyer supplies and approves brand data, SKU identifiers, claims and market copy. The manufacturer or appointed packaging supplier confirms the production dieline and prepress requirements. The people responsible for the project should be named in the approval record.
Do not assume one barcode size or quiet zone suits every application. Confirm the applicable requirements with the responsible prepress or verification team. Keep one controlling approved revision and clearly mark superseded files.
